During the biggest refugee crisis faced in Europe since World War 2, politicians and media across Europe have sometimes fanned the flames of prejudice. Stand up to Racism has joined Unite Against Fascism Scotland, and the Glasgow Campaign to Welcome Refugees with the support of the STUC (Scottish Trade Union Congress) and Scottish Refugee Council to hold a national demonstration in Glasgow. The march and rally will stand up to racism, fascism, Islamophobia and anti-Semitism.
The demonstration will be held on 19 March, the United Nations International Day for Elimination of Racial Discrimination, 11am at George Square, Glasgow City Centre. There will be a number of speakers on the day. The March and rally will coincide with demonstrations taking place across the world.
Download a “I´m standing up to racism” sign and take pictures of yourself, work colleagues, community group with it and tweet your pictures to @STURScotland / @antiracismday using the hashtag #M19Scot. There are also demo leaflets available to download. If you are looking for campaign materials for the demo day you can get a ‘Refugees Welcome Here’ badge from the Stand Up to Racism website.
