Glasgow Green Year 2015

Throughout this year, the city of Glasgow will be running Glasgow Green Year 2015. There will be projects, events, and activities to connect people and businesses with green issues. Led by the city council, it aims to build upon Glasgow’s successes in 2014 by putting the spotlight on the growth of the green economy and the spread of green projects across the city.

The programme has three central themes. Natural Assets is looking at the parks, green spaces, waterways, flora and fauna. Green Science and Innovation is about celebrating the city’s strengths and entrepreneurial skills. Green Change is about highlighting how the city is responding to environmental problems including poor air quality, traffic congestion and climate change.

Bailie Liz Cameron – Chair of Green Year 2015 said “A wonderful array of events and projects are being planned around the city and I’m thrilled that some community groups are already organising their own activities and weaving sustainability through existing events. Glasgow’s Green Year 2015 will build on the momentum created by the Commonwealth Games and showcase how people and partnerships are at the heart of our ongoing sustainable development.”
